I'm grateful for every strategy game out there, so this will be just a little constructive critics :) And so we start every mission on different planet like Pandora or SMAC, but on many planets. I didn't had much expectations but just wanted to see how the Age of Wonders genre continues. If you have played AoW 3, I recommend starting on Advanced. At long last I managed to lay hands on this game. After that I will up the difficulty, because by the mid-game campaing missions start being boring. As I knew their basic unit is melee, I continued to play on Advanced. The fight that was supposed to be epic turned to be. I lost 1 unit because I rushed in the city to stop a bug (there were two units that rotated for a minute at max speed). It was my 3 stacks vs it's 3 stacks and a garrison, approximately 4500 vs 3500. I brought my third stack and started a fight. Maybe it realised that if it can destroy one stack, the other would capture the city? Not sure, but it looked like the AI just waited to be conquered. It didn't even try to protect sectors or take them back. I took all it's sectors, and it seemed to stop building new units but still hired units from NPC fraction. So I came to his only colony and saw 3 full stacks in the city. Although the AI decided to attack, it didn't do anything. By the end first AI built 2 colonies, second AI had just 1, third AI declared war on me and was destroyed. I had 3 colonies, then stopped building new ones because I didn't need any more. I didn't fight a war that mission.ĭvar was faster, for I already knew what to do. Vanguard was kind of real tutorial, so it took a lot of time to complete. I am playing on Advanced difficulty, won 2 missons so far (vanguard and dvar).
